We will be clearing Fire Hydrants around the Rutland Town Common on Monday, February 16th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This is a great opportunity for any Scout looking for some additional Service Hours for Advancement.
In true Troop 306 fashion, the Fuzzy Pickle Patrol captured the First Place prize during the Fire Building competition at the 2015 Klondike Derby held February 8th at Treasure Valley. Congratulations to all the boys who did a great job…despite the snow being nearly over their heads….

The meeting will include a full gear “shake out” in preparation for the White Mountains Backpacking Trip. All Scouts MUST bring their packed backpack, minus food.

Dress for the weather…Dress in layers. It will be cold, but Scouts will be doing a lot of running…so make sure you can dress down as you move and dress up when you stop. Staying dry is the key to happiness…stay dry and stay warm.
Scouts will be eating “on the trail.” so plan accordingly. Each patrol will have a stove to warm water for dehydrated meals…EVERY SCOUT will eat something warm at lunch!!!
Remember your 12 Essentials (they are on the web page) and your snow shoes. We will bring the Troop snow shoes for the new scouts who do not have them.

Congratulations to the Scouts (and leaders) of Troop 306 who successfully challenged the Snow Miser (a.k.a Mr. Freeze) this weekend at Treasure Valley. The official overnight temperature….1 degree. Could not be prouder of the boys not only for their performance during the snowshoe hike, but also their actions in camp, including the fantastic meals that were cooked up for diner.
We continue to learn and refine our hiking and camping skills…remember every trip is an opportunity to learn. Congratulations again and hope you all enjoy a well deserved night in your own warm beds.
